Bring on the blue sky and sunshine! After a smoky haze that has engulfed much of British Columbia in August, a combination of wind and rain has brought welcome relief to the West Kootenays. Hooray!

Air quality has drastically improved too, and with the forecast in the low 20s heading into September, late summer is looking like a great time to get out cycling again. We still have space on our late season road biking tours through September to see the Kootenay Rockies on two wheels.

A couple of our West Koot Loop Silver Triangle tours have a modified itinerary, featuring an overnight in the waterfront town of Nakusp. These tours stay at the recently renovated Lodge at Arrow Lakes, operated by the world renowned Canadian Mountain Holidays (heli-skiing). With a modern cozy tavern on site, scenic lakeside boardwalk nearby, and the soothing Nakusp Hot Springs a short drive away, there’s plenty to do after a great day in the saddle.

Otherwise, our tours feature a stay at the rustic Lemon Creek Lodge in the Slocan Valley with hearty home-cooked meals. You can put your feet up, relax with a good book, and enjoy the cozy timber frame ambience at our hideaway in the woods.

Either way, we’ll still get you back to Nelson in good time on the final day of the tour so you can drive home or extend your stay on Kootenay Lake (we can also set you up with a room, just ask!). September is a beautiful time to explore Nelson’s charming main street, dozens of cafes and restaurants, and remarkable waterfront location.

Remaining tour dates:

September 6-9 (third night in Nakusp)

September 13-16 (third night in Slocan Valley)

September 19-22 (third night in Nakusp)
