Wondering how to get to Nelson?

If you’re driving from Calgary, Vancouver, or the Pacific NW, Nelson is easily reachable in a day. For those coming from the east, consider taking the free Kootenay Lake ferry from Crawford Bay to Balfour and enjoy the relaxing 35 minute ride. As Nelson is a bit off the beaten path (including the Trans Canada Highway), the roads don’t have that much traffic, making for a scenic and relaxing road trip.

If you’re driving an electric vehicle, there are convenient charging stations in any direction, and lots of communities (and cafes) for you to refuel along the way.

If you’re coming from further away, Air Canada is once again flying into our local airport in Castlegar (a 35 minute drive from Nelson). At present, there is one scheduled flight per day to and from Vancouver and Castlegar, seven days per week.

YVR to YCG: 10:55am- 12:02pm

YCG to YVR: 12:40pm – 1:50pm

We are pleased to offer a private shuttle service to and from Castlegar airport to Nelson for guests on our private tours. If you’re travelling with your bicycle, we can pick it up from the airport too.
